I get three questions on the regular. When I say regular here’s what I mean: Every. Single. Day. Multiple. Times. A. Day.
- When are you going to be finished?
- Is the house on the market?
- Don’t you want to live there?
Great questions, y’all. Great questions.
The Eastwood house was never for me—I entertained the idea but I really love my home. My home is one of the most comfortable spaces I’ve ever known. Like a sponge, it soaks up troubles and worries and sets people at ease. I’m in no real hurry to move on from that sort of shelter.
But I feel this itty bitty pull. There is this one thing about the Eastwood house…
I want to live in that kind of light.
Light pours into Eastwood. From every angle, at every turn, light effortlessly rolls through the space. I’m taken with light, smitten with the idea of waking up to that kind of light and living my life in the light. Maybe it’s the morning person in me, maybe it’s the hopeful person in me, maybe it’s the optimist—whatever it is, it’s a force within me.
Here are a few more pictures from earlier this spring.
I am not so much attached to the house. It’s just a thing, you know. A possession. Something that has the potential to be destroyed. But the light…
Do yourself a favor—live in the light as much as you have the chance.
Heaven help us, we will actually tie a pretty little bow on this project within a week. And then you’re all invited to come take a walk through and celebrate with us—open house details coming soon!

Amy
I’m obsessed with the light and space in this house! This was beautifully written, too. Well done. You’re so gifted.
Adam,
You just can’t help but cheer me on. I love you for that.
Thank you.
xoxo.

For all of us who cannot come and walk the house – I hope you will do a photo open house. It looks gorgeous! I agree with you on the light….every house we have ever bought or built has been done with “light” in mind. It is what sells (or not sells) a house to me.
Yes, I absolutely will.
In other news, I’ve missed you. See you soon… Denver!

I do love the light! & that white…longing to go all white except in the foyer where current cranberry paint & the stairs are too daunting. Suggestions for white paint? I’ve searched on line & everyone has their own opinion. As a reader here for a while, I know you would point me in the most lovely direction/color! Can’t wait to read details of an open house. Louisville is not that far. A road trip & an open house sounds delightful!
This is a great reminder for people who are building or remodeling that natural light has a big impact on the appearance and enjoyment of the home. Too frequently we pore over blueprints and color swatches without thinking about the aspects of the design that affect natural lighting — orientation of the house plus the size, location and shading of windows. Getting these things right can make your home much more livable, attractive and energy-efficient.
Hi there! New reader here. I just wanted to say I LOVE what you said about your home ” I really love my home. My home is one of the most comfortable spaces I’ve ever known. Like a sponge, it soaks up troubles and worries and sets people at ease. I’m in no real hurry to move on from that sort of shelter.” This is EXACTLY how I feel about my little cottage. I haven’t been able to put into words what it feels like, but that, my friend, is IT. So happy to be a new reader. I love your home too. ITs just wonderful.
Shavonda,
I just found your comment! And I am so glad I did. Thank you for the encouragement and I am so glad that the words I’ve used have resonated with you. That makes my day. Thanks for joining me on the journey. -x, amy
I love this! Can you share the paint and floor details?
